Join the Wharton Entrepreneurs- Education and Resource Network (WE-EARN) Affinity Group of the Wharton Club of New York for our next event that will feature top angel investor and TechStars NY Managing Director, David Tisch, and Co-Founder of Warby Parker, Dave Gilboa. They will share their perspectives from the two sides of the table: the viewpoint of the investor, and that of the entrepreneur.

Tisch works with emerging entrepreneurs that are part of the TechStars accelerator program, and has a unique understanding of what it takes for them to get funded. Gilboa has been instrumental in fundraising for Warby Parker, raising a total of $13.5M in less than a year from top VCs First Round Capital, SV Angel, Lerer Ventures and Menlo Ventures, among others.

David Tisch Background
David is the Managing Director of TechStars NYC. David is also the Managing Member of Box Group, a New York City based seed-stage angel capital firm

As an investor or advisor, David has worked with over 50 startups including GroupMe (sold to Skype), Boxee, Fab.com, Flavors.me, adStruc, CrowdTwist, Goodsie, OnSwipe, SkillShare and DataMinr. David was named to NYC Mayor Bloomberg’s Advisory Council on Technology and serves on the Investor Board of Venture for America

Prior to joining TechStars, David served as Executive Vice President of Interactive Strategies at kgb, a global information services company. While at kgb, David founded and lead Knowmore.com, a social aggregation startup within kgb

David has a B.A. in American History from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. David was born and raised outside of NYC in Westchester. David likes wearing hoodies and over using ellipses...

Dave Gilboa Background
Dave is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Warby Parker, a transformative eyewear company that designs and sells vintage-inspired glasses for a fraction of the price of retail stores and distributes a pair to someone in need for every pair sold. Prior to Warby Parker, David was an Associate at Allen & Company, a merchant bank, where he invested in seed-stage and venture-stage healthcare and digital media companies, and advised M&A transactions exceeding $20B. Previously, David worked at Bain & Company, where he formulated and implemented business strategies for some of the world's leading retail and technology companies. David was also Special Assistant to the Founder and CEO of The TriZetto Group, and has held strategy and business development roles at Genomic Health and Crescendo Bioscience. David is on the founding Entrepreneur Board of Venture for America, an organization dedicated to mobilizing graduates as entrepreneurs in low-cost cities. He graduated with a BS in Bioengineering with Honors from UC Berkeley and has an MBA from Wharton Business School.
