Can't Buy Me Love: The Business of The Beatles, Broadway, and Beyond

Speaker Series

On May 21, join us as we welcome Vivek J. Tiwary, W'96, a New York Times bestselling author and an award-winning producer of Broadway shows, film, television, and graphic novels.

Vivek is the author of "The Fifth Beatle", which recounts the untold true story of Brian Epstein, the brilliant visionary who discovered the Beatles in a cellar in Liverpool, nurtured, protected, and guided them to international stardom, and died extremely successful and painfully lonely at the age of 32.  What he unearthed after much difficult research was not just an inspirational business story and a blueprint for what Vivek wanted to accomplish with his career, but also a very human story. It's became a story he  could relate to - and wanted to relate to - on so many levels. Brian became his "historical mentor", if you will. A person from whose history he's tried to learn from—both what to do and what NOT to do. Brian was certainly a flawed and imperfect hero, but a hero all the same.

In addition to his work with The Beatles and "The Fifth Beatle" Vivek is a decorated Broadway producer-- his productions have won a combined 25 Tony Awards from 44 Tony nominations. They include "The Addams Family," Green Day's "American Idiot" (the groundbreaking adaptation of the superstar rock band’s multi-platinum album), Mel Brooks' "The Producers" (the most Tony Awards ever) and "A Raisin In The Sun" (starring Sean Combs) among others.
