Speaker Series Committee
Reports to the Chair of the Speaker Series Committee
Speakers Series Committee:
Our committee is responsible for identifying, inviting and presenting the Wharton community with interesting and stimulating speakers. The committee operates under the categories of Author Speaker Series, Special Interest Speaker Series, including Real Estate, Entrepreneurial Speaker Series, Women’s Initiatives Speaker Series, Social Media Speaker Series, Entertainment Speaker Series and Sports Speaker Series.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Monthly meetings are held to keep the committee in discussion, connected and productive. Time commitment for this position would be about 1 hour a week. Volunteers report to the Chair of the committee. Note that you must have access to email which you can monitor on a daily basis, as much of the coordination among the volunteer team is conducted via email. Being easy to reach and responsive will make the job much easier to manage.
Qualifications:
All volunteers must be supporting (dues paying) members of the Wharton Club of New York. The type of person would be most suited for the position: Someone who likes to have fun! Are you a social person who is a good communicator, has great ideas, is organized and can effectively work through multiple tasks? This is the opportunity for you. We are looking for people who have an interest in connecting with their Wharton peers on the social side of life and who have the time to give to the Club. All volunteers must adhere to Club policies as evidenced by their signing an annual acknowledgement form.
Application Process:
Interested volunteers should complete the volunteer application and submit a resume to Gabriela Sanchez, the Club’s Administrator at gsanchez@whartonny.com. Once the submission is received, the applicant will be contacted by one of the Club’s volunteers. The Club expects that each selected volunteer will treat this volunteer "job" as seriously as a professional job and recognize that it is an extension of his or her professional world.
