Join the WCNY Retail Network of Fashion for an informative discussion with Margaret Mager and Richard Baum, senior executives in investor relations and private equity respectively with particular expertise in the world of fashion. Margaret and Richard will discuss how best for fashion brands to communicate with Wall Street before and after going public. This event is for Wharton alumni currently working for or with fashion retailers or who own their own brand.
  • Margaret Mager is a Managing Director with MBS Value Partners, a global investor relations and communications firm. Margaret has more than 20 years of experience as an equity research analyst and strategic advisor to public and private companies. As a senior sell-side analyst at Goldman Sachs, she was a top ranked analyst by Institutional Investor Magazine for nine consecutive years and sought out by investors for her knowledge of the global apparel, footwear, sporting goods, luxury goods, and retail industries. Margaret was lead analyst on a number of high profile IPOs including Ralph Lauren, Coach, Carters Childrenswear, Columbia Sportswear, Under Armour, lululemon, Maidenform, and JCrew. Margaret uses her substantial experience in capital markets, financial modeling, valuation analysis, and stock picking to benefit her clients. She also brings an investor perspective to her work reflecting her years on the buy side.
  • Richard Baum is the Managing Partner of Consumer Growth Partners, a private equity advisory and investment firm with an exclusive focus on retail, restaurant and branded consumer products companies.  Prior to founding CGP in 2005, he spent over 15 years as one of Wall Street’s leading equity research analysts covering the specialty retailing sector at Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs and Sanford C. Bernstein.  He was consistently ranked at the top of the annual Institutional Investor and Greenwich Associates polls for most of his years on Wall Street.  Mr. Baum led nine initial public offerings and six secondary offerings for retailers including Abercrombie & Fitch, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Cabela’s, Gymboree, Life Time Fitness, Talbots, Urban Outfitters, Yankee Candle Company and Zale Corporation.

    Mr. Baum currently serves as a Board Director for Vera Bradley, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRA) and Chairman of the Board of Harris JewelryHe is also a Board Member of ACG New York and RMS (formerly Retail Marketing Society).  Mr. Baum earned a BS degree in economics from the University of Michigan where he graduated magna cum laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors and a JD degree from Harvard Law School.
