HUSTLE

Author Speaker Series

This election season, millions of people are expressing frustration that the system that was supposed to bring them the American Dream is stacked against them. We played by the rules but are disengaged with our work, saddled with debt, fearful of risk and going nowhere fast. What’s needed today is a new way to reclaim our dreams, thrive, and break free from a system that isn’t benefitting us. That way is hustle.

In a book that bucks the system with a new path to fulfillment, HUSTLE: The Power to Charge Your Life with Money, Meaning, and Momentum (Rodale; September 13, 2016), provides today’s generation with the battle cry they have been calling for so they can take charge of their destinies, cheat the odds, change the world and achieve their dreams on their own terms.

Neil Patel, Patrick Vlaskovits, and Jonas Koffler, three unconventional entrepreneurs whose experiences include immigrant families, rags to riches rises, and health and financial setbacks. What they share in common is a lifelong dedication to building unapologetically fulfilling and successful lives around the three key pillars of this book: meaning (the why of our work), money (the earnings we make to build our confidence), and momentum (relentless energy and a ‘get things done’ attitude). When all three are in balance, they form a foolproof, counterintuitive strategy that anyone can apply for big breakthroughs, maximum returns and sustained personal growth.

The authors expose the limitations of loyalty, leaning in and grit.  Instead, they go against the grain of established and recent wisdom and advise you to:
  • Betray Yourself to Stay True to Yourself and pursue your full creative potential.
  • Use the 10-Minute Rule to enable immediate focus and productivity, and help you expand your talents while avoiding the narrow, paralyzing trap of the 10,000 hours rule.
  • Create a Personal Opportunity Portfolio (POP): Build assets that replace your resume, increase your credibility, attract people, and put you in the role of opportunity regulator.
  • Apply the Science of Luck: Capitalize on the 4 types of luck, swing and never strike out.
But whatever you do, be sure to avoid at all costs what the authors call “the mediocrity of meh.”.

The American Dream isn’t gone, but the way to achieve it has drastically changed. If we give ourselves permission to dream and do—or in other words hustle—we will reap the rewards we deserve.

HUSTLE is a much-needed blueprint for empowering a restless generation who craves and deserves more movement and happiness in their lives than they’ll ever get from the old system.
