Affinity Group Vision & Goals
The Wharton Hedge Fund Network of New York (WHFN) was founded in 2005 as an Affinity Group of the Wharton Club of New York (WCNY). The group aims to bring together Wharton alumni active in the greater hedge fund community, which includes professionals working at hedge funds, hedge fund allocators, prime brokers, lawyers, accountants, and other service providers active in the hedge fund space.

Who Is Membership Open to?
WHFN membership is free of charge and solely based on eligibility. Membership is limited to Wharton undergraduates and/or Wharton MBA's who are employed in the hedge fund space. We do not permit attendance of Wharton alumni who are looking to break into the space. Please send us at whfn@whartonny.com: 1) your Wharton graduation year(s), 2) a short two-liner about your current activity in the hedge fund space, 3) your professional contact information, and 4) your personal email address to keep in touch throughout your career. We will get back to you on the status of your request within 2 business days.

What Are the Benefits of Membership? What Are WCNY Member Benefits?
Events are invitation-only and limited to WHFN members. We will not be able to permit walk-ins, replacements or guests. WHFN members that have a paid Wharton Club of New York (WCNY) membership attend events at discounted prices. Networking dinners are only open to WHFN members that have a WCNY paid membership. To renew your lapsed WCNY paying membership, go to http://www.whartonny.com/renew.html. To start new WCNY paying membership, go to http://www.whartonny.com/memsub.html.

WHFN members represent the leading hedge funds, institutions/foundations, funds of funds, family offices, prime brokers and other service providers in the industry. Wharton's high quality presence in the industry is exemplified in the professionals who attend our events and we believe this is a real value-add of WHFN. A selected list of firms of professionals is:

Aksia, Avenue Capital, AQR, Blue Mountain, Brahman Capital, Bridgewater, Cadogan Management, Caxton, Citadel, Cumberland Associates, Cyrus Capital, D. E. Shaw, Deloitte & Touche, FRM, Glenview Capital, GM Asset Management, Goldentree, GSAM, Halcyon, Highfields, JANA Partners, MIO Partners, Moore Capital, MSD Capital, New Holland Capital, Northwater, Och-Ziff, Omega, Park Hill Group, Perry Capital, Ramius Capital, Rockefeller Foundation, Silver Point, Stark, Sterling Stamos, Thomas H. What Types of Activities Does the Affinity Group Have to Realize the Stated Vision & Goals?
WHFN has hosted a wide range of events, featuring speakers from firms such as AQR, Fermat, Goldman Sachs, JANA, Perry Capital, Soros and Stark, and cutting-edge topics such as energy, re-insurance, quantitative strategies and re-insurance; and leadership items such as SEC registration, seed capital and how to deal with the press.
