Lessons Learned Growing Your Start-up

Wharton Entrepreneurs Education and Resource Network (WE-EARN)

Join the Wharton Entrepreneurs Group for this exciting panel discussion.

Our three panelists will be:

Ryan Frankel (WG'12) is the CEO and Co-Founder of VerbalizeIt (www.verbalizeit.com), the company that delivers instant access to a global community of 19,000+ human translators.  VerbalizeIt was recently honored by PhoCusWright as the 2013 Travel Startup of the Year.  In 2014, he was named by Inc. Magazine as a Top 35 Under 35 entrepreneur.  He is also a recipient of the 2013 Class of 35 Top Travel Innovators and a frequent columnist in Forbes Magazine, Wharton Magazine, and OPEN forum by American Express.  Prior to Wharton, Ryan was a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs in the Special Situations Group in New York City where he focused on middle market private equity transactions and the operational management of the portfolio companies.

David Goldberg is a cofounder and CTO of Contently, a platform which empowers original, engaging storytelling.  With more than ten years spent building web-based applications, he has experience working on technological problems in industries ranging from electronic payments to women's fashion.  At Contently, he first created the interfaces and intelligent algorithms which power much of the company's platform and unique matching system.  In 2012, he was named one of Inc Magazine's 30 Under 30.

Howard Greenspan (W'93) is Founder of SCS Direct, one of the largest sellers of consumer goods on Amazon.com.  SCS, which employs 70 talented individuals, has been ranked in the top 300 of the prestigious Inc 500 Fastest Growing Companies and continues to maintain these strong growth rates.  SCS, which manages hundreds of its own brands, has acquired 4 companies in the past year to further vertically integrate.  Before founding SCS in 1998, Howard worked for five years in brand management and product development for a larger company.

Our panelists will share the key lessons they've learned growing their start-ups.  As always, there will be opportunities for your questions.
