The Leadership Moment: Are We Born Leaders or Do We Become Leaders?

Speaker Series with Wharton Professors Harbir Singh and Michael Useem

Whether chief executive or a front-line supervisor, managers at all levels must also be able to communicate the organization’s strategic agenda in ways that are both unambiguous and persuasive, setting forward what is to be sought in the longer run. But the question is how do you do that? Are some destined to be great leaders while others are always meant to follow?

Two experts in the field are Wharton Professors Harbir Singh and Michael Useem. Combining forces in a new book, The Strategic Leader’s Roadmap, they offer a 6-point checklist for leading strategically that will help managers strengthen their capacity to develop strategy and to lead its execution.

When Professor Michael Useem lectures about leadership capacities and strategies he opens the class with three important questions: When does our personal leadership have the greatest impact? Is leadership about us individually or the team or community that we are a part of? And are we born a leader or do we become a leader? Learn more about how to lead a team and accomplish success as a great leader.
