On April 25, the Wharton Retail Network of Food and Beverage invites you to join us for an exciting look into the world of Non-Profit funding and operational support. We'll receive hands-on insights from leaders in this space: Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Walter Sweet, Amy Holmes and Patrick Briaud will take us through trends in philanthropy in this space, and give examples of food-related organizations they have funded and supported. They'll answer your questions on how to move forward with your own specific goals.

Terry Pranses, W'72, President, Pranses Research. 
Terry brings over 25 years of marketing and research insights to corporate-side marketers, communications agencies and non-profit directors and boards.

Terry's work in the Food & Beverage sector has helped imported and specialty brands, large corporations and retailers enhance targeting, packaging and messaging.  Clients have included Canadian Beef, Crispy Green, Down To Earth Markets, Ingredion, Pepperidge Farm, Pompeian, Tate & Lyle and Unilever.

Terry's work in the Non-Profit sector has enhanced education, health and association efforts to improve communications, fundraise and serve membership.  Clients have included Children's Specialized Hospital, Green Hill, Hunter College, Lighthouse Guild, The Pingry School and International Association of Culinary Professionals.

Terry's previous work, as Vice President at Young & Rubicam Advertising, included broad-ranging account management responsibilities.  Terry holds a B.S. from the Wharton School and an M.B.A. focused on Consumer Behavior and Marketing from Fisher College of the Ohio State University.

Walter Sweet, Vice President, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors
Walter oversees RPA's East Coast-based advisory work and develops donor relationships. He also leads client engagements with foundations supporting health, community development, education and entrepreneurship. He has been interviewed by national publications including The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times and regularly serves on panels of philanthropic experts.

Previously, Walter served as a program officer at the New York Community Trust, the nation's largest community foundation, where he conducted special project grantmaking and monitored and evaluated programmatic activities.

Walter holds a B.A. in American History from Columbia University and is a past board member of the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York, the Business Outreach Center Network and Columbia University's Advisory Committee on Socially Responsible Investing. He is the proud parent of two children.

Amy Holmes, Senior Philanthropic Advisor, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors
Amy leads strategic planning and program development for families, private foundations, and corporate philanthropy, helping donors define and reach their goals. She manages giving programs focused on music, literature and the arts, arts education, and economic mobility, as well as large-scale disaster response and community resilience initiatives. She joined RPA in 2004 and has researched and overseen giving programs in youth development, education, international development, and the Afghan Women Leaders Connect collaborative fund.

Amy previously served as Development Associate for the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center, a settlement house in Yorkville and East Harlem in New York. She serves as Chair of the board of the Support Center for Nonprofit Management, and as Secretary of the board of Harlem United, an agency providing medical, social, and supportive services for adults with HIV/AIDS.

Amy received a Master of Public Administration degree from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University, and a B.A. from the College of William and Mary. She lives in Queens with her husband and three young sons, and has gotten pretty good at cleaning smashed banana off Lego blocks.

Patrick Briaud, Philanthropic Advisor, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors
Patrick advises individuals, foundations and corporations on a range of donor services, including philanthropic-interest exploration, strategic planning, grants management and impact evaluation. His areas of expertise include Impact Investing, Philanthropy Education, Monitoring & Evaluation, Faith-Based Giving and Financial Inclusion. Previously, Patrick also led RPA's knowledge management efforts – optimizing internal systems and information sharing.

Patrick's prior experience includes a post as investment analyst and head trader for a $900M portfolio, an accomplished professional tennis resume – earning a world doubles ranking of 125 and playing in Wimbledon 2008, as well as roles focused on nonprofit analytics and impact investing.

Patrick has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from Yale's School of Management where he co-chaired the Yale Philanthropy Conference. He holds a Graduate Fellowship from the Trinity Fellows Academy and currently serves on the boards of Briaud Financial Advisors, LearnPhilanthropy and the Rivendell Institute at Yale. When not at work, Patrick can be found wrestling with his two nephews, discussing the implications of different worldviews and dancing the Texas two-step.
