About this session:
This 1st webinar in the 4-part Analytics at Wharton Series examines the application of machine learning to manage the threat of COVID-19 in Greece, where tourism is a cornerstone of the economy. With tens of thousands of international visitors every day, Greece cannot test each visitor to ensure that they are not a carrier of COVID-19. We developed a machine learning platform that combines anonymized passenger data, lab testing results, and public prevalence rates to preferentially target risky tourist profiles for testing. Our platform uses past data and optimization to improve its own risk predictions while also identifying sick visitors before they enter the country, all subject to Greece’s current COVID-19 testing capacity. Our solution is currently deployed across all ports of entry to Greece.

Eric Bradlow, Vice Dean of Analytics, K.P. Chao Professor, Professor of Marketing, Statistics, Education and Economics and Chairperson Wharton Marketing Department will moderate Q&A.
