We have all seen Bill Griffeth on CNBC as their anchor for years. We have also seen Bill as the Wharton Club of New York’s annual Joseph Wharton Awards host for over 15 years. Join us for a virtual fireside conversation to talk about the markets and the economy, of course. And we’ll slip in a question to Bill about how best to get on CNBC.

We’ll also learn more about Bill’s intriguing journey when DNA testing led him to discover that his father who raised him was not his biological father. We’ll discuss interesting questions about privacy issues and if they outweigh the positive impact DNA testing has had.

Bill is an author of an audio book that is coming out this summer. The book highlights the way society’s views of abused women have changed, and how laws have changed. The murder case Bill wrote about in the book spurred some of those changes.

About Bill Griffeth
Bill Griffeth is CNBC’s Anchor-at-Large. In December of 2019, he retired from day-to-day anchoring duties after 30 years at the network. Before that, he spent ten years producing and anchoring for the Financial New Network, cable TV’s first financial channel, of which Bill was a founding producer.

At CNBC, he anchored a number of programs, including the popular mid-day show, “Power Lunch” and “Closing Bell,” which he anchored for several years from the New York Stock Exchange. His final assignment was co-anchoring “Nightly Business Report,” on PBS, the longest running business news program on television which CNBC produced for its final seven years until production ended in 2019. In 2018 NBR was named the best program on public television by American Public Television.

Bill was nominated six times for a Cable Ace Award as Best News Anchor, and he received an Emmy nomination for his work on the CNBC documentary, “Game On!” about the history of the video game industry. In 2001, the National Association of Individual Investors honored him for what was then his 20th anniversary in business television.

Bill has written five books, including “Ten Steps to Financial Prosperity” (Warner Books, 1993), “The Mutual Fund Masters” (Probus Publishing, 1994), “By Faith Alone: My Family’s Epic History” (Crown, 2008, & the revised edition by NEHGS, 2019), “The Stranger in My Genes: A Memoir” (NEHGS, 2016), and the forthcoming “Have At It, Sister”, an Audible True Crime Original which will be released this summer.

Bill graduated from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) with a BA in Journalism in 1980. In 2000, CSUN honored him with its Distinguished Alumnus Award, and in 2017 he received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from his beloved alma mater.

Bill and his wife Cindy are avid genealogists. They have traveled all over the United States and through parts of Europe researching their ancestral homelands. Bill and Cindy have two grown children, and they have homes in New Jersey and North Carolina.
