WCNY Response to COVID-19

March 15, 2020

Since March 3, 2020, when Manhattan saw its first case of COVID-19, the Wharton Club of New York had moved swiftly to prioritize the safety of our alumni community. Where possible, future in-person events will be reformatted as webinars until the coronavirus situation subsides. This includes any speaker events, group meet-ups, and volunteer meetings. Events that are best experienced in-person will be postponed.

As Wharton alumni, we pride ourselves not only in business leadership but also in civic leadership. While some of us may be happy to attend events in a group setting, we could inadvertently put ourselves and others at risk. WCNY wants to avoid putting our alumni in a large group gathering as it is not essential to do so. By so doing, we play an important part in reducing the potential spread of the virus.

All WCNY events that can be reformatted as a webinar will be conducted as a webinar instead of an in-person event. If you have RSVP'd for these events, you will be receiving email notifications about the event changes soon.

Events that are hosted by groups such as the Penn Club of New York will go on as planned, if they do not make any changes to the event format. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated.

We look forward to when WCNY events can be held safely in-person so we can network freely within our powerful community. Meanwhile, nothing changes fundamentally: the best way to help our alumni community is to continue to Take the Call, and Make the Call!
