Volunteer Title
Event Coordinator


Committee Description: The Wharton Angel Network (WAN) seeks to provide Wharton alumni with a transparent forum for entrepreneurs and investors seeking funding opportunities in angel-stage deals.

Responsibilities: Responsible for securing locations for the WAN events and coordinating all logistical aspects of events, including managing invitations and verification that those attending have been invited to attend the function.

This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in entrepreneurship or early-stage investing as well as event planning. As the point person for coordinating events that bring together Wharton alumni entrepreneurs and angel investors, you will gain exposure to an ongoing group of entrepreneurs and growing group of angel investors.

Time Commitment: Approximately 4-6 hours every two months

Qualifications: Detail-oriented who can plan ahead and work through multiple tasks before the actual event take place.

Type of person would be most suited for the position: A detail-oriented person with exceptional organization and communication skills who is able to stay on top of things. Must be able to work within the guidelines of the WAN purpose and make decisions as such. Interest in entrepreneurship or early-stage investing is helpful.

Investor Database Administrator


Committee Description: The Wharton Angel Network (WAN) seeks to provide Wharton alumni with a transparent forum for entrepreneurs and investors seeking funding opportunities in angel-stage deals.

Responsibilities: Responsible for the input and upkeep of the WAN investor list. Must make sure that the list is kept current and that inquiries for joining the WAN are responded to in a timely and accurate manner. Will work closely with the WAN Event Coordinator to verify WAN Investor qualifications are met and all appropriate documents are completed as necessary.

This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in entrepreneurship or early-stage investing. You will gain exposure to a growing group of Wharton alumni angel investors and, through timely upkeep of the investor list, play a key role in growing and strengthening the network.

Time Commitment: Approximately 4-6 hours a month

Qualifications: Detail-oriented who can stay on top of things and work through multiple tasks efficiently. Must have strong technical skills with Microsoft Office products.

Type of person would be most suited for the position: A detail-oriented person with exceptional people skills. Must be able to work within the guidelines of the WAN purpose and make decisions as such. Interest in entrepreneurship or early-stage investing is helpful.

Entrepreneur Database Administrator

Responsibilities: Responsible for managing the inflow of the WAN entrepreneurs’ business plan submission list. Ensures that the list is kept current and that inquiries from entrepreneurs are responded to in a timely and accurate manner. Works closely with the WAN Event Coordinator to verify that WAN business plan submission requirements are met and all appropriate documents are completed as necessary.

This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in entrepreneurship or early-stage investing. You will gain exposure to all business plans submitted to the Wharton Angel Network as well as to an ongoing group of Wharton alumni entrepreneurs.

Technology Liaison


Committee Description: The Wharton Angel Network (WAN) seeks to provide Wharton alumni with a transparent forum for entrepreneurs and investors seeking funding opportunities in angel-stage deals.

Responsibilities: Responsible for technical support for the WAN. Will help identify pragmatic technology solutions for improving the communication and submission process. Will work with the Technology Head of the Wharton Club of New York on website needs to ensure that website content is updated correctly and in a timely fashion.

This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in entrepreneurship or early-stage investing, particularly in thinking about how technology can streamline the angel investor process.

Time Commitment: Approximately 4-6 hours a month.

Qualifications: Broad understanding of different web-based applications and software solutions. Detail-oriented who can stay on top of things and work through multiple tasks efficiently in coordination with others. Must also have strong technical skills with Microsoft Office products.

Type of person most suited for the position: A tech-savvy person with exceptional people skills. Must be able to work within the guidelines of the WAN purpose and make decisions as such. Interest in entrepreneurship or early-stage investing is helpful.

Wharton Angel Network Qualifications

Detail-oriented who can plan ahead and work through multiple tasks before the actual event take place. Note that the qualifications for investors are to be a member in good standing of the WCNY, an accredited investor looking to invest a minimum of $25,000 in Angel Stage deals. Volunteers for WAN must be members in good standing of the WCNY, but need not qualify as an investor. We are looking for people who have an interest in entrepreneurship or early stage investing and who have the time to give to the Club.

Business Manager / Wharton Club of NY Newsletter


The Wharton Club of New York is seeking a volunteer to serve as business manager for the Club’s Newsletter. Reporting to the Vice President for Marketing & Communications, and working closely with the editor and producer to manage newsletter accounting and other financials, major responsibilities will be to manage and grow the WCNY quarterly newsletter, which reaches the 19,000 alumni living and working in the metro NY area.

The manager will generate revenue for the Newsletter through creating and selling attractive sponsorship packages for advertisers and business partners. This would be a great opportunity for someone with interest in media and/or sales & business development.
