Join the Career Development Committee for a presentation by Wharton's Practice Professor of Management Stew Friedman about his new book, Leading the Life You Want: Skills for Integrating Work and Life, on Monday, October 20, 2014 from 6-8 pm.

Context: You're busy trying to lead a "full" life. But does it really feel full - or are you merely stretched too thin? If you're seeking "work/life balance," you'll never achieve it; instead of "work" competing with "life," the goal should be to create harmony amongst the domains of work, home, community, and the private self. During his talk, Stew will share research and original stories from six remarkable people who have integrated work and the rest of life, producing significant public success:
  • Former Bain & Company CEO and Bridgespan co-founder Tom Tierney
  • Facebook COO and bestselling author Sheryl Sandberg
  • US First Lady Michelle Obama
  • Renowned artist Bruce Springsteen
  • Nonprofit leader and US Navy SEAL Eric Greitens
  • Soccer champion-turned-broadcaster Julie Foudy
Who: Stew Friedman has been teaching at Wharton since 1984. In 1991, he founded both the Wharton Leadership Program and the Wharton Work/Life Integration Project. He is the author of Baby Bust: New Choices for Men and Women in Work and Family and Total Leadership: Be a Better Leader, Have a Richer Life. Stew's Total Leadership program has been implemented worldwide, and his recent Coursera MOOC included more than 57,000 students. His radio show, Work and Life, airs Tuesdays at 7 pm EST on Sirius XM 111, Business Radio Powered by The Wharton School.
