Evening of Theatre and Reception at The Amateur Comedy Club

Special & Social Events Committee

Enjoy an evening of a comedy play and reception at The Amateur Comedy Club.  Wharton alumni are invited to the dress rehearsal performance of the British sex farce Not Now, Darling . The show is being staged for our group with a wine reception in the theatre following the show at which we will have the opportunity to meet the actors and director.

Not Now, Darling is a mad cap farce about mistresses and minks in the London fur salon of Bodley, Bodley, and Crouch. Gilbert Bodley plans to sell an expensive mink to a mobster dirt cheap for his wife, because the wife is Gilbert's mistress and he wants to "Close the deal." Mistaken identities, scantily clad women kept hidden in closets, mobsters, suspicious wives, and misguided shoppers keep this comedy moving along in the spirit of the Marx Brothers.

The Amateur Comedy Club is the oldest (founded 1884) continuously operating amateur dramatics club in the nation. The Club has its own theatre building, a National Historic Register building.
