Adam Kommel

President, Activist Shorts Research

Adam Kommel is the founder of Activist Shorts Research, an independent company dedicated to tracking activist short-sellers. In addition to providing a complete database of activist short campaigns, the company publishes a quarterly report highlighting top activist short-seller ideas. Clients of Activist Shorts include long/short hedge funds, activist short-sellers, and investor relations firms. Subscribers use the database to review records of activist short-sellers, to review specific activist campaigns, and to generate short ideas by getting alerts on new campaigns.

Mr. Kommel founded Activist Shorts in 2014 after spending four years at FactSet SharkRepellent, where he tracked shareholder activism. After realizing there were several databases focused on activist shareholders but none on activist short-sellers, he left FactSet to start Activist Shorts with a former Bloomberg software developer, Wayne Gerard. Activist Shorts data has since been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and Reuters, among other financial media outlets.

Mr. Kommel is a CFA charterholder, a graduate of Bowdoin College, and a current MBA student at Columbia Business School.
