Magazine Feature Writer

Reports to Editor of the WCNY Magazine

The Division:
The Marketing and Communications Division is responsible for membership, membership benefits and for developing, coordinating and maintaining all communications with members including committees responsible for sponsorship, membership, Club website and communications. This Division manages the Club newsletter, the membership directory through the school, the website, the Club’s dues structure and membership benefits. It is also responsible for ensuring a cohesive message for all member communication vehicles. This division is responsible for creating communications and services for the membership that will ensure a high level of member retention and for bringing new members into the club. Since continuing to attract new members is vital for the survival and prosperity of the alumni network, it is perhaps the most important function of the chapter.

The WCNY Magazine feature writer will support the Marketing and Communications Division by crafting creative, compelling articles that capture the attention of our 30,000 alumni members, most of whom receive our bi-annual magazine. At the request of and in concert with the magazine's editor and managing editor, you will compose articles tied to the varied events and experiences related to the Club, that appeal to a multi-generational audience of highly intelligent successful alumni. Article subjects include Club events and affinity groups, profiles of Club volunteers and interviews with Joseph Wharton Dinner award recipients. This is a great opportunity not only to bulk up your writing portfolio, but to have your work seen by a well-connected audience with whom you share a meaningful affiliation.

Time Commitment:
Time will vary throughout the year, but it will be approximately 2-4 hours per article on average for each issue of the newsletter.
