Wharton Entrepreneurs- Education and Resource Network (WE-EARN)- Volunteer

Reports to:  Chair of Wharton Entrepreneurs – Education and Resource Network (WE-EARN).


Affinity Groups:
Designed to network with other professionals in your industry and attend events centered around your professional interests. Affinity group managers should currently be working in and/or have significant experience in the vertical/affinity area. This group focuses its attention around specific interest or industries like: investment banking, consulting, venture capital, retail, and young alumni. These groups meet to discuss common issues, problems and opportunities.

WE-EARN Affinity Group Description:
The Wharton Entrepreneurs - Education and Resource Network (WE-EARN) is a vibrant community of Wharton alumni interested or engaged in entrepreneurship. The group facilitates networking with alumni and exchange of knowledge.

Responsibilities:
The Volunteer is responsible for identifying and coordinating speakers for future events covering topics pertinent to professionals in this space.  There is a good deal of flexibility in terms of event venues and themes.  This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in building connections in the start-up community as well as with fellow volunteers and the larger WCNY membership.  Plenty of responsibility is available to the Volunteer.  The Volunteer must have a broad understanding of the matters affecting entrepreneurs and have a strong network in the start-up community.

Time Commitment:
Volunteer time commitments vary, but expect to give an average of two hours per week to this effort. Note that you must have access to email which you can monitor on a daily basis, as much of the coordination among the volunteer team is conducted via email.  Being easy to reach and responsive will make the job much easier to manage.

Qualifications:
All volunteers must be supporting (dues paying) members of the Wharton Club of New York. The type of person that would be most suited for the position: A good communicator, who is organized and can effectively work through multiple tasks while having a strong interest in start-ups and entrepreneurship. We are looking for people who have the time to give to the Club.

Application Process:
Interested volunteers should complete the volunteer application and submit a resume to Gabriela Sanchez, the Club’s Administrator at gsanchez@whartonny.com. a resume clearly indicating which volunteer position is of interest and explaining your enlightened self-interest in serving the Club. Once the submission is received, the applicant will be contacted by one of the Club’s volunteers. The Club expects that each selected volunteer will treat this volunteer "job" as seriously as a professional job and recognize that it is an extension of his or her professional world.
