Jobs to be Done Innovation with Guest Speaker: Andrew Glaser (W’02)

Wharton Entrepreneurs Education and Resource Network (WE-EARN) and Speaker Series Committee

Jobs to be Done Innovation – The Framework that created the original insight for Instagram, turned Intercom into a Unicorn and created this symbol .

Our next event is Andrew Glaser (W’02) on Jobs to be Done Innovation (“JTBD”).  JTBD is an analytical framework and process that enables practitioners to quickly build a clear and concise understanding of their customer, making innovations more targeted, less likely to fail and much more likely to lead to explosive growth.

JTBD has been helpful to companies that are:
  • Deciding what to build;
  • Not getting the growth they want from launch or product iteration initiatives;
  • Not getting adequate results from incremental marketing spend;
  • Having trouble agreeing on a strategy; or
  • Seeing competition catching up or bypassing them.
JTBD has been responsible for countless key innovations that have led to explosive growth across a wide range of industries.

The program:

  1. JTBD Theory - Andrew will present JTBD principles
  2. Live Customer Interview – Demonstration of the criminal and terrorist interrogation techniques used in advanced JTBD practice
  3. Application – Apply the framework to create growth and decrease costs
  4. Conclusion - Q&A
If you are an entrepreneur, this is a great opportunity to learn how to apply JTBD to your own enterprise!

Andrew Glaser is a NY-based entrepreneur, innovator, executive coach and startup advisor with extensive experience leading innovation at early stages and at scale.  He is a leading expert in JTBD innovation.

As an innovation advisor, Andrew’s client portfolio has ranged from pre-startup ideation to scaled business over $1 billion.  Andrew is Managing Partner of Laser Ventures, a private-equity fund that takes controlling interests in $1-20 million revenue companies and applies JTBD innovation and market-based management principles to create explosive growth.

During the week you can find Andrew taking breakfast meetings at his favorite 24-hour Latin diner Coppelia. On the weekend he looks forward to hosting dinner parties at his apartment.
