We are pleased to announce a fireside chat with Peter C . Lewis (W ’79), Chairman and Founder of Wharton Equity Partners.
Formed in 1987, the firm has been an investor, developer and operator of most real estate assets classes earning a reputation as a visionary investor taking advantage of opportunities in advance of others.
In our talk with Peter, we will be discussing the firm’s latest platform, Wharton Digital Ventures, concentrated on real estate, private equity and venture capital investments in data centers and AI.
In addition, Peter will share some advice for entrepreneurs: how he launched his career including securing capital for transactions with little experience and capital. He will also cover key traits he believes will be essential to achieving superior returns in the world ahead.
Mr. Lewis is a sought-after lecturer on the topic of “The Future of Real Estate” talking at such forums as Columbia Business School, and numerous conferences as a keynote speaker.
We believe this will be an evening full of important advice and inspirational insight.
About the Speaker:
Mr. Lewis is Chairman and Founder of New York-based Wharton Equity Partners, a real estate and private equity investment firm established in 1987. From inception, Mr. Lewis has been the visionary force behind shaping Wharton Equity’s success as a forward- thinking, opportunistic investor that has consistently been ahead of the curve on making large “bets” based on emerging technological and macroeconomic trends in both real estate and private equity.
During his career, Mr. Lewis has steered his firm into most real estate asset classes, including industrial, office, hotels, residential (for sale and rental) and self-storage where the firm combines in-depth operational expertise, with institutional capital markets sophistication. The common thread among these various strategies has been the focus on avoiding “mainstream” thought to garner above-average returns, which exceeds 30% IRR over 30+ years. In addition, Mr. Lewis led the firm’s private equity business into growth investments in companies focused on logistics and big data analytics. Recently, he formed Wharton Digital Ventures, a platform company established to invest in data centers and make private equity and venture capital investments around AI and data centers.
