Vice President, Marketing and Member Engagement (MME)
Reports to the President of the Wharton Club of New York
The Vice President, Marketing and Member Engagement (MME) leads the division responsible for all membership engagement and communications for the Wharton Club of New York (WCNY). This executive volunteer role oversees the Club’s brand, member value proposition, and all related marketing initiatives, ensuring a cohesive and high-impact experience for over 30,000 alumni. The VP manages and supports key committees—Content Creation, New Member Connection, and PR/Social Media—and serves as the primary liaison with the Chief Technology Officer and other Club leaders. The VP, MME, drives strategic initiatives to enhance member retention, engagement, and growth, including major projects such as brand refreshes and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the Club’s overall marketing and member engagement strategy, aligned with organizational goals and member needs.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to direct-report committee chairs (Content Creation, New Member Connection, PR/Social Media), ensuring effective collaboration and delivery of high-quality programs and communications.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of consistent brand standards, communications, and member engagement tools, including the website, membership directory, and marketing templates.
- Guide the development and implementation of campaigns, welcome programs, and content that drive member acquisition, retention, and satisfaction.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the division, encouraging new ideas and best practices from volunteers.
- Collaborate with other Club divisions, committees, and external partners to maximize the impact of marketing and engagement initiatives.
- Lead or participate in key strategic projects, such as annual brand refreshes, digital upgrades, or special events, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Club policies and maintain high standards of professionalism and integrity in all division activities.
Approximately 4–6 hours per week, varying by season and project demands. (Included monthly team check-in (:30), WCNY VPs (1:30 incl prep), and optional Quarterly Board (1:00) meetings.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in marketing, communications, membership engagement, or related fields.
- Strong strategic thinking, organizational, and people management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate volunteer teams in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with digital marketing tools, website design, and customer journey mapping, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with brand management, event marketing, agency/vendor management, and/or alumni engagement strongly preferred.
- Must be a supporting member of the Wharton Club of New York and sign an annual policy acknowledgment.
