The Career Development Committee creates and implements initiatives, activities and events designed to help alumni achieve their career goals. We help alumni enhance their careers through developing relevant skill sets, expanding professional networks, and connecting with a wide range of opportunities, including board positions, jobs, projects etc. The Committee also facilitates and provides access to career-related resources that are available to alumni from both the Wharton School and local chapter.

Focus groups within the Career Development Committee are:

• Career Events / Speaker Series – presents topics of interest with professionals, industry experts, Wharton professors and alumni, etc. Events that we host include workshops related to career advising, job-search strategies, corporate or non-profit board opportunities, etc. Programs that are industry-specific may be coordinated with the Wharton Club of New York affinity groups or other Wharton organizations.
   
• Career Networking / Special Programs – designs, executes and maintains programs that provide a sustainable access to resources and opportunities for alumni. Examples include virtual networking platform, mentorship matching, executive coaching, outplacement support, personal branding and promotion support, etc.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities are available to assist in the creation and administration of initiatives and programs aiming to support Wharton alumni throughout their careers. Volunteers are welcome to join either or both focus groups described above. Volunteer responsibilities include:

• Help cultivate relationships with the Careers Management Office at the Wharton School and other professional organizations
• Help gather and maintain resources available to alumni across different venues
• Help identify career-related event themes / ideas and host those events
• Help develop online platforms to facilitate career development objectives
• Attend Committee meetings held quarterly (the Committee also has a WhatsApp channel for real-time communication and ideas exchange)
• Time commitment: ~1-2 hours / week

Qualifications

• All volunteers must be supporting (dues paying) members of the Wharton Club of New York.
• Possess a true passion for helping others accelerate their career journeys
• Adherence to the Club policies as evidenced by signing an annual acknowledgement form
• A commitment to treat this volunteer “job” with professionalism and a dedicated sense of responsibility
