VP, Business Development

Reports to the President of the Wharton Club of New York


The VP of Business Networking develops, implements, and coordinates all activities designed, to help alumni run or grow their businesses. The VP will coordinate/lead the below two groups and other opportunities that may arise:
  1. Business Development Leads Council
    Non-competitive networking councils to generate business for its members. The goals of the lead councils are: lead generation, joint marketing and intelligence sharing.
     
  2. Business Development Affinity Groups
    Focused around specific interests or industries like: investment banking, consulting, venture capital, retail, young alumni, these groups meet to discuss common issues, problems and opportunities.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
  • Support existing affinity-group leaders and help maintain active programming and member participation.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing affinity groups and encourage formation of new groups where appropriate.
  • Help affinity groups coordinate with Club leadership and other Club initiatives.
  • Monitor group activity, volunteer needs, and operational issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to help affinity groups deliver valuable member experiences.
  • Encourage collaboration across affinity groups and with other Wharton organizations.
Time Commitment and Expectations:
To be determined based on the number and activity level of affinity groups.

Qualifications:
  • Current membership in the Wharton Club of New York.
  • Strong relationship-building, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Interest in professional networking and alumni community-building.
  • Experience leading volunteer teams, communities, or member groups is preferred.
  • Adherence to Club policies, including signing an annual acknowledgement form.
  • A commitment to treat this volunteer role with professionalism and responsibility.
