VOLUNTEERS FOR THE SOCIAL COMMITTEE

Wharton goes Social! Yes, we all put in a lot of hard work to get a Wharton degree so now earn the rewards of membership, join the social committee and get involved in some of the coolest events, programs and networking opportunities that Wharton NY has to offer. We are currently looking for team leads for each program and members to help when/where ever they can. We need both younger and older alumni to participate, so age is not a discriminator -- as a matter of fact, Wharton alumni of all ages are encouraged to get involved. Come on, we all have some fun in us!

THE ORGANIZATION
The Wharton alumni network is one of the most exclusive and powerful networks in the world. As alumni leaders, it is our responsibility to create and manage an infrastructure that can open doors for us, and provide business contacts, access, and opportunities. We all have a vested interest in expanding the alumni network. We all know that you have to “give to get” and that you have to “help to be helped.” It is this enlightened self-interest that is the ultimate power of the Wharton community. The Wharton Alumni Association should be an integral part of all of our lives. We have a “life long commitment to learning.” The Alumni Association is about access; access to people, ideas, information, and resources. The Business School Club of New York, Inc. provides the infrastructure to foster and encourage that access.

The purpose of the Wharton Business School Club of New York, Inc. (“WCNY”) is to foster the career, business, social and intellectual growth of its membership; to represent the views and interests of its members, to serve as the conduit of information between and among Wharton, the University of Pennsylvania and WCNY members; and to promote the interests and welfare of the membership. The Club helps further the professional development of its members by offering an extensive array of programs and services, helps members stay connected to the extended Wharton community and, provides social/networking opportunities.

Social and Special Events Committee
Our committee develops social and special events that interest the entire Wharton alumni community. Some events on the planning horizon are:
-- Tastings: wine, scotch, tea, anyone for tequila?
-- Special access museum visits: go behind the scenes of some of the greatest treasures in New York City
-- Casino Night: Texas hold’em and New York shoot’em
-- VIP ticket access to top events in the city, think American Express event list
-- And of course the Wharton Decompression Happy Hour

Volunteer Responsibilities
We ask that each member of the committee assist in supporting one event a year, that’s all! Lots of flexibility in terms of event venues and themes except you have to like it. Time Commitment is approximately 1-2 hrs each month. We are also searching for team leads to serve on the social planning committee and to drive one special event a year. What do you get in return: instant access to the latest social calendar around, a fun group of people to work with, hey we have to be on this committee, and plenty of opportunities to network with young and older alumni.
