WHFN: Research Best Practices

Rob Rouse is a Managing Director and the Head of Americas Equity Research at Barclays. He is a member of the Global Research Executive Committee and the Americas Equities Management Committee. Rob was named Deputy Head of US Equity Research in 2009 and Head of US Equity Research in 2013. He joined Barclays in 2008 with the Lehman Brothers integration, where he had been since 1996. Rob had previously been a publishing analyst in Healthcare IT Services and a junior Biotechnology analyst at Raymond James & Associates. Rob earned a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from Flagler College.

Seth Rosen, CFA is the Founder and Managing Partner of Nitorum Capital, L.P., a classic fundamental research driven long/short equity fund. Prior to Nitorum, Mr. Rosen worked at Eminence Capital, LLC from 1999 to 2014. Mr. Rosen joined Eminence at its inception as a Senior Analyst and was promoted to Principal and Portfolio Manager in 2002 and to Senior Portfolio Manager in 2013, serving in this capacity until 2014. Before Eminence, Mr. Rosen worked as an Analyst at Fusion Capital Management, LLC, a New York based investment management firm and at CS First Boston in Equity Research. Mr. Rosen began his career as an Associate in National Westminster Bank Plc's Corporate Banking division. Mr. Rosen received an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School in 1998 and was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Honor Society. He graduated cum laude from Boston University School of Management in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Kian Ghazi is the founder and Managing Partner of Hawkshaw, LLC, an independent, special sits, equity research business serving institutional clients. The name Hawkshaw is an 1800s term for detective and is meant to underscore the firm’s heavy emphasis on deep-dive, investigative research. Previously, he co-founded Hawkshaw Capital Management (HCM), an equity-long/short investment partnership designed to generate market-beating returns through a concentrated, value-driven, research-intensive approach. At HCM, Kian was a Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager from 2003 to 2013. Prior to Hawkshaw, Kian was a senior investment professional at Midtown Capital Partners and the business services analyst at Lehman Brothers. Kian is also an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University where he teaches Advanced Investment Research, and he was a founding Board Member of Harlem Success Academies. He received his MBA from the Wharton School of Business, where he was a Palmer scholar and his BS from New York University’s Stern School of Business where he graduated magna cum laude.
