Running a private business is quite different than working in a public entity. What are the plusses and minuses, the problems and opportunities in running your own business vs working in a large public company?

On November 10th, join us for a panel discussion that will delve into these issues as well as lessons learned and mistakes to be avoided. You’ll hear from four business owners who took the plunge and switched from working in public corporations to running their own. Chris FitzGerald WG’91, has been CEO of four private equity portfolio companies, two of which had highly successful exits; the other two not so much. Ed McLaughlin started four companies. Three were successes, but one was a failure. Charbel Tagher WG’76 just celebrated his company’s 30 anniversary, but he did face tough times along the way. Theresa Boyce WG’85 has launched and managed a series of high-growth ventures, with all the attendant challenges. Moderator Rich Bond WG’72 owns a financial recruiting business and has learned how the right people can help private companies thrive. Even in these turbulent economic times, brought on by the pandemic, these panelists have relevant insights to share as they have managed their businesses through current disruption.
