Join the Wharton Entrepreneurs - Education and Resource Network (WE-EARN) for our next event featuring entrepreneur, investor and start-up advisor Marc Stockli (WG’96).

Marc will share his perspective on a variety of topics related to early-stage entrepreneurship. Among other things, he’ll cover:
  • How to navigate the highs and lows of life as an entrepreneur;
  • How to think about and create effective support and challenge networks; and
  • The effectiveness of boards in fast-growing companies.
As always, there will be opportunities for your questions.

Marc O. Stockli is a co-founder, former board member and CEO of Totemo, a cyber-security company with a focus on securing the transmission of sensitive data. Its products are used by 1,500 corporations and more than 3.5m licensed users. At Totemo, Marc conceived the original product idea, defined its successful go-to-market strategy and built its initial distribution partnerships. Totemo was sold to Palo Alto-based Kiteworks in December 2021.

Marc is an active investor, board member and coach for entrepreneurial companies and teams in technology and financial services. He acts in such capacity for Amwell, a Boston- based global leader in telehealth, where he led Allianz X’ pre-IPO funding in excess of USD 100m and was instrumental in a variety of additional strategic partnerships. Amwell went public on NYSE in September 2020.

He is further the first outside investor into Beekeeper, the fast-growing market leader in frontline-worker communication. At Beekeeper, Marc supported the two young founders from their start in 2012, while still at ETH Zurich, via several dramatic pivots and near-fatal crises to its current position with more than 200 employees and clients in more than 130 countries. He also acts as counsellor to the founders/owners, typically also as investor, for successful companies such as Merantix (Berlin-based, leading Artificial Intelligence studio in Europe, with spinoffs such as Vara in breast cancer detection, or SiaSearch, where he led the sale to scale.ai in Nov21), Lucy Security (measuring and improving a company’s cyber security awareness, sold to ThriveDX in Feb22), Cleanhub (protecting the oceans from plastic pollution based on software-enabled tracking and compensation of plastic collection), and Mika (digital therapeutics for cancer treatment patients).

In the regulated arena, Marc is a board member at Format Vermögen & Anlagen, a wealth manager with a stellar asset management record, recognized for example by multiple wins in Bilanz magazine’s rankings.

Previously, Marc worked in corporate finance in Hong Kong, Tokyo and New York and in strategy consulting with BCG. He is a graduate of the University of St. Gallen HSG (law) and of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Marc is a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) where he serves on the Global Board of Directors and is the first European to serve as Global Chair in the fiscal year 2022/23.

Marc lives in Zug, Switzerland, and, as a sidenote, has climbed all of Switzerland’s 48 peaks higher than 4000m via challenging routes.
