WHFN: Activism in Short Selling

Affinity Group
52nd event

What is the Wharton Hedge Fund Network?
The Wharton Hedge Fund Network (WHFN) was founded in 2005 as an Affinity Group of the Wharton Club of New York (WCNY). The group aims to bring together Wharton alumni active in the greater hedge fund community, which includes professionals working at hedge funds, hedge fund allocators, and dedicated service providers.

Events are by invitation only and limited to Wharton undergraduates and/or Wharton MBA's who are employed in the hedge fund space. For more information on WHFN and past events, please visit the Wharton Hedge Fund Network page.

What is the Next Event?
Our second event of the year and 52nd event in WHFN’s history, "Activism in Short Selling," will feature a panel hosted by two prominent activist short sellers and moderated by WHFN organizers. The panel will discuss questions such as:
  • Is activist short selling a better model than quietly short selling?
  • To what extent does activism accelerate a short working out?
  • What regulatory considerations and potential pitfalls confront the practice?
Panelists will include
  • Sahm Adrangi, Portfolio Manager, Kerrisdale Capital Management
  • Ben Axler, Portfolio Manager, Spruce Point Capital Management
  • Adam Kommel (Moderator), President, Activist Shorts Research
The event will be held Monday, June 29 at a Midtown location. The exact location will be communicated shortly after signing up. We will not be able to permit walk-ins, replacements or guests.
